Comments about the season 2005-2006

In the beginning of the season, we were surprised that the snow height had reached 1m in the first half of december in Akaigawa and some other regions. It was so unusual. In some regions, it continued to snow and had record snow height, around 2m in cities, more than 4m on mountains. On the contrary, we had a little less snow than usual in Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido where the most of us live. However, in this season, the snow removal in Sapporo was not so good that the roads became extremly narrow. We imagine the budget for snowploughing was running out.

In spite of enormous quantity of snow in some ragions, the winter ended rapidly. In the latter part of February, we already suffered from shortage of snow on road. So we couldn't hold the night training (night criterium on snow) that we do normally between February and March. The night criterium is the most popular training style among us. We have heard that many of participants of the last night criterium had been hoping the night criterium would take place. We hope we can hold the night criterium next season.

By the way, Cairn couldn't participate in any training this season because of hard working. He has been always saying on the phone he wants to participate in. It's shame. Moreover, Tesseract has been riding only 2000km a year because of his studies although he used to ride 20000km when he was active racer. We are concerned about the future of the Alpine High School Duo.
