Training Report - Niseko-Goshiki Pass 5

K participated in this training. It was minus 12 degrees Celsius at the Goshiki Hot Springs.

Travelled distance: 19km

At the beginning of the training, the blizzard was strong. However, hard winds and strong snowfall ceased soon. Snow depth has obviously increased in comparison with the training Niseko 4 (report is not uploaded yet) which has taken place 11 days ago. The road was snow removed but snowploghs just moved the snow aside. So the road became narrow. It was difficut for automobiles to pass each other.

The training commences at the Goshiki Hot springs. K descends at first. The snow depth is about 4.5 metres at the Goshiki this day.

Snow wall of this part is amazing. As it snows a lot in this region, normal snowplough can't do the job. So usually snow blowers equipped with special tool do the snowremoval job.

We hope it's not going to collapse. Cyclists are too vulnerable to avalanches.
