Training Report - Mt.Tokachidake (Mt.Tokachi) 22

K participated in this training. It was minus 3 degrees Celsius at the Mt.Tokachidake Hot Springs.

It's May! We are in May!

It's first time to ride on snow with studded tires in May. It's the training on snow effectuated at the period which is the latest in the season. So far, the training effectuated at the period latest in the season was Kenashi Pass 20 at the end of the March. The record was broken by more than a month. We did know the road is sometimes snow covered at this altitude in May like Off-season/Tokachidake 2 during the night. But so far, nobody tried to come here to ride on snow during the night. This time, K came alone to ride on snow during the night.

However, at this time in this season, brown bears are very active. As he came alone, he wouldn't be content to meet brown bears. So he rode only around the Mt.Tokachidake Hot Springs where there is sign of human. Moreover, the snow on the road was stable only above the altitude of 900m due to high temperature. He had no choice but rode around the Mt.Tokachidake Hot Springs.

He climbed many times the last part of the climb to the summit.

He decided to rest for a while until the dawn as it seemed the snow on the road would be stable after the dawn for one or two hours.

The sky is brighter and brighter. The slant of the Mt.Furanodake loomed up from the darkness.
